BARISTA'S BREW WISDOM

  1. Use a finer grind than for regular coffee, but not as fine as for machine espresso.
  2. Rinse the AeroPress with hot water before use to maintain temperature during extraction.
  3. Keep the infusion time short, about 30 seconds, to avoid over-extraction.
  4. Start with gentle pressure and gradually increase. This extracts rich and complex flavors without over-extracting. Pressing the plunger too quickly can result in bitter or watery coffee.
  • Weigh the Coffee

    Measure your coffee beans using a scale. A common ratio for espresso is 1:2

  • Grind the Beans

    Use a fine grind, coarser than traditional espresso but finer than for drip coffee.

  • Prepare the AeroPress

    Place the AeroPress on the scale, zero it, and add the ground coffee.

  • Add Hot Water

    Pour hot water (about 90°C) over the coffee. Fill the AeroPress to the desired level.

  • Steep Time

    Allow the coffee to infuse for about 30 seconds, then slowly press the plunger.

  • Serve

    Pour the espresso into a preheated cup and enjoy.
