BARISTA'S BREW WISDOM

  1. Adjust the coffee-to-water ratio considering that a portion of the water will be ice. A common ratio is to use 60-70% hot water and the rest in ice.
  2. Opt for a medium grind. This ensures proper extraction without over-extraction.
  3. Place ice in the Chemex decanter before starting to pour the hot water. This helps to cool the coffee quickly and maintain its vibrant flavors.
  • 1. Measure Your Coffee

Start with a 1:16 coffee-to-water ratio for the ideal Chemex brew.

  • 2. Medium-Fine Grind

Aim for a grind consistency similar to table salt.

  • 3. Boil Water

Heat water to approximately 200°F for optimal extraction.

  • 4. Filter Prep

Rinse your paper filter with hot water to eliminate any papery taste and preheat your Chemex.

  • 5. Add Coffee and Ice

Place 175 grams of ice in the Chemex, add the ground coffee to the filter.

  • 6. Brewing Technique

Begin by saturating the coffee grounds, allowing for a 30-second bloom. Continue pouring water in pulses, maintaining a consistent level in the filter.

  • 7. Savor the Flavor

The entire brewing process should take just over 3 minutes. Enjoy your crisp and flavorful Chemex Iced Coffee!
